Hedging

Hedging is an effective way to add structure to any garden, especially if you prefer a more formal design.  Faster growing varieties, such as laurels and privet, are an attractive way to create privacy without the need to resort to fencing, and they also provide homes for wildlife.

Smaller hedging can also help you to define boundaries or planting areas, and it can provide a windbreak to shelter more delicate plants.  If you want quick results, then choose larger plants from varieties that are known to intertwine quickly.
